Discussion on Trafficking in Women and Girls in the Context of Global Migration

In February 2019 the CEDAW Committee will hold a half-day general discussion on trafficking in women and girls in the context of global migration. This event is intended to prepare the elaboration by the Committee of a General Recommendation, which will provide guidance to States on the measures they should adopt to ensure full compliance with their obligations to respect, protect and fulfil women’s human rights in the context of trafficking and global migration.

Participation

Participants including NGOs and other interested stakeholders are invited to take part in the general discussion and to provide written submissions.

The link to register should be activated on 18 January 2019. Participants should register by 11 February 2019.

Written submissions

Written submissions on the theme of the general discussion should be submitted in Word format to the Secretariat of the Committee.

Oral Interventions

The Committee will try to accommodate all requests for an oral intervention, but may be restricted by time constraints, and reserves the right to organise the list of speakers at its discretion.

Statements should be submitted in Word format in advance of the event.
